That's interesting. So it's better than hangings, gas chambers, electric chairs, firing squads etc. but still considered really cruel/awful in the west. I think even the injections they give can be a horrible way to go no matter how clean that might look.

True. It's hard to decide death by slaughter. But if I had to choose, I would choose the method that would not cause me the most pain while dying. Of course, in my opinion, slaughtering with a sharp sword and by a skilled person would be the best option.
