An alleged senior Irаqi army officer, Hussein Shanun was captured along with a statement saying: "Your mujahedeen brothers in Mosul managed to capture a senior officer in the Irаqi army, the apostate Major Hussein Shanun"

It further stated the "despicable officer confessed to his actions" and warned that anyone who "dares back the crusader occupation forces" would meet the same fate.
