Many Americans are OBLIVIOUS to the fact that 98% of the world has gone metric. And the same with temperature measurement.

And remember - one of the moon probes crashed because of a confusion over metric and imperial measurements.

Update: There's also the date format. US is one of three(?) countries that use mm/dd/yy.

I'm in the USA and mm/dd/yy is lame and confusing. YYYY/mm/dd is ideal as it sorts chronologically and goes from most significant to least significant in linear fashion
