Self immolation is probably the single dumbest thing I've ever seen humans do. The only ones who can do it like real GS is the monks who sit in silence and burn. Everyone else does it then screams like they didn't know it would hurt

The dude was probably high as a kite when he did it. It just has to look insanely painful. No rule says it actually has to be. I am guessing he accepted the outcome long before going so knew he just needed to sit still and knew to focus on that task.
