This building was called Platan and was part of a research institute in Friazino near Moscow. It can be viewed on google maps. This is what typical office buildings built in Russia and eastern Europe during the communist era (1960s and 1970s) looked like. A reinforced concrete skeleton surrounded by a glass and aluminium façade, with lots of flammable finishes inside (fibreboard, ply-wood, PVC carpets, most of the synthetics without fire safety standards). In post-communist countries in the EU, most such buildings have been demolished or upgraded in accordance to modern fire protection requirements, or they are abandoned and awaiting refurbishment (they are considered life-threatening). This Russian building was not renovated, it looked like a ruin and was probably so inside. Poor people, their fate was sealed the moment the fire broke out. The flames cut off the exit to the corridor and stairs, their only escape route (can be seen for a moment - a concrete wall on the left of the video).

Watching this. Make me questioning myself. Would I be brave enough to jump ? I might be just crying there at my last moment while screaming begging it to stop. I respect their bravery till their last moment.

Two stayed inside and burned alive - to death.

One jumped OUT OF the building, Not off of.

The other guy stood in the window until he burned to death.

He was DEAD when gravity took over and his dead body leaned forward and fell out of the window.

What happened to the other 2'people
