i mean some but most your protection i feel is from bullets and small explosions, as fire as an added hope from the others, but if those bottles have a long burning oil in them how will you get out before you cook?

Yeah this is the correct response, however, it depends on how well insulated and sealed everything is in there. Always a possibility that there’s physically open gaps , by design, on the truck for the troops to fire their weapons. More likely than not, those guys got roasted well-done.

The fire and hot gasses may be sucked into the air intake which could start a fire in the air filter or melt components. Ventilation for passengers may be switched to interior circulation. But the intake for that may still be affected. Rubber seals of windows may also catch fire. Plus the driver is now blinded and the vehicle is sitting ducks making it vulnerable to further attacks. E.g. someone could now slide a larger plastic container full of gasoline under the vehicle. That would probably cook the tires and whatever is at the bottom.

Molotovs were originally implemented as an anti tank weapon. Their purpose was to primarily immobilize the tank. One would accomplish this task by aiming for the tanks air intake. And with a fire consuming all the fresh air over the intake the tank is a sitting target
