He went into shock. Shock is a condition in which blood pressure is too low and not enough oxygenated blood can sustain your body. However, there are different kinds of shock: hypovolemic shock from bleeding, neurogenic shock from severe emotional disturbance, and septic shock from infections in the blood.

I believe this unfortunate individual is suffering from a combination of hypovolemic shock and neurogenic shock.

You forgot about a few other types of shock, such as cardiogenic shock, distributive shock (which, to be fair, is associated with septic shock), and obstructive shock.

Neurogenic shock is moreso attributed to damage to the CNS, such as a spinal cord injury, as opposed to mental distress.

Many of these shock types tie in to eachother, however, for simplicity sake, we will just attribute it to hypovolemia, which you were absolutely correct about.
