I didin't mean it in a racist way, half of the videos on this site are about the cartel. It's a big problem in Mexico and you can't deny it. Just step a foot outside big cities or look at them in a wrong way and boom, now you are being skinned alive and recorded.

That's bullshit. Sure, there are a lot of cárcel vids, but don't forget that mexico has a population of over 100 millions. It's actually a very small percent of people that die due to carcels and the only reason you see a lot of videos like that, is because you are on this site.
Besides, carcels only kill people that owe them money, snitch, work for other faction etc. Never complete randoms and even more rarely, turists.

They actually have checkpoints near cartel controlled areas, if a tourist doesn't pay the price good luck getting out of there alive. And yes they don't really target tourists (especially from USA, UK and other big countries) because it would draw massive attention. But just to be sure, whenever you visit dangerous areas don't insult them or play with them. Also popular tourist destinations are pretty safe. Also form 2006-2022 Mexico has over 360000 cases of homicide caused by organised crime. There is a reason why Mexico declared war on the cartels man.
