I have met engineers from China and India. Sadly, being 4 isn't even a good enough excuse. There is reason china can only "innovate" by stealing trade secrets and making a super crappy imitation. They can read and see that something is designed a certain way but they have no idea why so they skip the "unnecessary"steps they don't understand. Even the Chinese copy of Lego was nothing more than direct rip offs. Couldn't even come up with their own sets. Everything they do is low quality and theft.

If there is an elevator with a legal certificate in the US it definitely has been looked at. State elevator inspectors love waving their tiny amount of power around. They wouldnt miss a chance to take one out of service. If the state is aware of the elevator they are looking at least annually.
