that's an overview basically. The protests took place over a few weeks in the winter in very cold weather. The police also used very slimy, underhanded, cowardly tactics: the truckers were surviving the cold by living in their trucks... so the police resorted to confiscating fuel so that they could freeze them out. They would shut down the distribution of food that people were donating to the protests. They tried everything. They had to resort to violence and running people over with horses. It's funny because Trudeau criticizes Iran for being brutal with it's citizens who protest but does the same thing and even the EU called him out on his hypocritical bullshit.
People may not be aware, but this protest marked the end of COVID restrictions across the world. In parts of Canada there was curfew and you couldn't have more than a few people at your house. You weren't allowed to leave your house unless it was important and police could randomly stop you to ask what your business was being outside and write you a citation. It was like night and day after this trucker protest. Governments would never admit that they were scared of follow up protests of even larger scales in other countries... but we all know better.
