For the people wondering why so many have their tongue sticking out;
"The tongue protrusion is a common finding in some deaths for asphyxiation (e.g., hanging, incomplete strangulation), and the compression of neck tissues and vessels is considered the cause of the phenomenon."
So pressure builds in the head as blood keeps getting pumped in while oxygen can't reach it can cause a sort of bloating/swelling. There was mention it could also cause eye bulging and a bloody nose in some cases.

I think maybe its because your tounge muscle goes all the way dawn your throat, and usually the noose starts ta the bottom of the throat and works its way upwards. Maybe the tounges are kind of just squished out.
