I think the main problem is that big organizations tend to want robots and not ppl in their ranks.

people are emotional animals, watching friends and family die gives our monkey brain a need to do worse to the enemy.

sending groups of ppl to fight kill and die in harsh conditions and then having the gull to bitch and moan about their actions is insane.

similar thing with cops. they are actually expected to have a shootout with a bunch of shitheads trying to kill and maim them, but don't you dare make an "unnecessary use of force"

also wtf do you expect small infantry companies to do with prisoners in the field? use their own supplies to maintain the enemy? while risking your own squad's death?

these are humans not robots. and humans love revenge.

Seriously, Russia is like the white trash neighbor everyone has that does nothing but annoy everyone and bring the property value on the block down.

You can only do war crimes against human targets, so the Ukrainians are legally in the clear.

War crimes only count if you lose the war. Its most often winners trying losers for their crimes

I don't fault Truman for dropping the nuclear bomb. The US-Japanese War was one of the most brutal wars in all of human history – kamikaze pilots, suicide, unbelievable. What one can criticize is that the human race prior to that time – and today – has not really grappled with what are, I'll call it, "the rules of war." Was there a rule then that said you shouldn't bomb, shouldn't kill, shouldn't burn to death 100,000 civilians in one night?
