Seoul Halloween crowd crush video compilation

On the night of 29 October 2022, a crowd crush occurred during Halloween festivities in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul, South Korea. At least 159 people were killed and 196 others were injured. The victims were mostly young adults.

The crowd crush is the deadliest disaster in South Korea since the sinking of MV Sewol in 2014 and the largest mass casualty event in Seoul since the Sampoong Department Store collapse in 1995. It is the deadliest crowd crush in the country, surpassing a 1959 incident at the Busan Municipal Stadium in which 67 people were crushed to death. A special police team, after completing weeks of investigation, concluded that a lack of safety precautions and other omissions contributed to the high number of deaths.

How the fuck can people be dying and not breathing and few meters away some people can just walk freely and roam, I do not understand the physics of this

EDIT: nvm, read the wikipedia page, now I am enlightened.

Basically from what I little but understoof, the wikipedia explains.

The area is very tight, with very limited space corridors and intersections packed to the max with clubs and other buildings.

The specific intersection at which this happened is in the shape of a T

So imagine from the bottom of the T people keep coming in.

Normally they would be able to just leave to the right or left upper side of the T right, if they hit that upper wall.

But now imagine the bottom T is sloping down.

Now imagine there is such a fuck ton of people (literally tons of body weight) that if somebody tripped and fell, they would fall downward tripping and falling on other people.

And that is what happened I imagine.

It is like a domino effect, the upper people fell on the bottom people and they were all pressured against that wall.

And if you were lucky to be standing exactly to the side, you would be free to move meanwhile few meters away somebody would be getting crushed by around 3000 kg of body weight.

So tight that you cant move your legs, turn your head or breathe. You die an extremely painful suffocating death.

This is so fucking crazy, you can read more about why this even happened. How could they prevent it. There is a lot of backstory into this and basically they couldve prevented it but didnt.

Only 137 cops deployed when more shouldve been etc.
