Brilliant post. But Jesus Christ they aren't half shit-your-pants scary.

Feel bad for the people that live on that strip going north-to-south in the US, correct me if I'm wrong about that but that strip is practially a perfect breeding ground for those things.

Yes, it’s commonly known as “tornado alley”. However, given the global shift in climate, the alley is moving much more easterly and deadlier too (this is already referred as “Dixie alley”). This particular event is much more scary than most since it’s in the boonies of Texas where everything that’s constructed is out of date/spec for these scenarios (wind shear design, foundation, framing, mobile homes, etc.)

Thanks for this. It's awful knowing that this is happening often and will never stop for the foreseeable. I'm from the UK so it's extremely rare to see anything close to this, not to sound retarded but I just never knew these would happen so often. It aint going to get better soon.

If I was a professional storm chaser, I'd make it a point to not sound like a hysterical moron on camera. Just sayin.

Im from southern Illinois, then moved to central Illinois. Now im in Washington state. But in Illinois tornado watches and warnings were the norm. Im lucky in my 25 years there i didnt have to experience anything like this. My great grandma was a part of the big tornado in marion illinois in like 1988. Her friend grabbed her out of her closet in her apartment and they hid behind bushes while the tornado took out all of the apt buildings

I’m from those parts too, closer to STL. My older sister and I were riding our bikes next to tilled up farm field about a block from home. I was seven. Like all tornadoes, this one dropped from the clouds and become visible as it picked up debris/dark soil. We just stood there dumbfounded watching this tendril inch its way out of the dark storm clouds until it reached the soil. We could hear my mom screaming for us, so I got on my bike and rode the block home. My sister was so freaked out that instead of riding the bike, she pushed it home. As we gazed up, the tornado funnel had started to widen and was getting louder.

While we were outside playing, we kept our dog on a rope tied around a tree. As he became more scared, he panicked by running around the tree until he ran out of rope My mom was freaking out trying to get him inside. It was really loud now. But instead of just unclipping his collar off the rope, my mom grabbed his collar and tried to force him to go back around the tree. My sister and I had to take control of that situation. We were lucky and had no home damage.

It was a strange twister, it moved into some people’s yard, did some damage, went back out, then moved onto the next yard and street.

Damn! Thats a story. Glad you all were okay. The same tornado i mentioned also was 2 blocks away from my grandparents house. Amd im sure you know we love watching storms from the porch. My grandpa was on the porch watching this tornado coming towards him, then all of a sudden it took a 90 degree turn and missed their house
