On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.1 earthquake struck off the northeast coast of Honshu, Japan, generating a deadly tsunami.

The official total for the number of those confirmed dead or listed as missing from the 2011 disaster was about 18,500. Other estimates gave a final toll of at least 20,000. The great majority of those killed were drowning victims of the tsunami waves.

Can you imagine just standing on the sidewalk and seeing EVERYTHING, from the smallest sign to actual houses being swept away like a leaf in the wind. if those people survived that must have been the most terrifying yet the most awe inspiring sight.
