He was already hurt when he started kicking wildly, around :31 by his mouth it looks like blood, but I think his gear on his back weighed him down once he was on his back. It also happened in the early spring (March I think, I remember the incident), water was very cold. I think a combo of the concussion from the blast, weight on his back and he simply ended up drowning himself.
