I dont think he was installing fibre .. fibre has to go underground because of how its made how fragile it is. (Basicly hollowed glass strand in a tube) you cant have it flex or bend alot so it cant go accross like power lines it cant have to much slack without it breaking

rubbish, fibre cable can be bent like a string.

just don't tie a knot in it.

many towns have overhead fibre that use existing telephone poles.

you can even see the fibre joint hanging from the top cable.
