Too drunk to understand that he has just ruined his life. Unless he has top notch no co-pay health insurance, he just bought himself hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills, rehab, etc, etc. I wonder if when he sobers up and realizes what he has done, he thinks it was worth it. All I can say is what a dumb ass.

Why is alcohol legal? It's the only thing on earth that can make a person this stupid, and it regularly succeeds in doing so...

It’s legal because the US tried to ban it altogether from 1920 to 1933 but it ultimately failed. I wouldn’t say it’s the only thing but it is the most widely available drug that can have these kinds of effects on a person. I was actually listening to a retired police officer and he said that 100% of the domestic violence calls he went on involved alcohol.

Alcohol is literal poison. If we could have a fresh start as society, there’s no way we’d choose alcohol as the “legal” drug.

Drugs like speed and heroin can make people do shitty things, but it’s almost always because of sober issues like cost, purity, criminal association, etc.

Yes we would. Beer is one of humanities oldest inventions. It's been around forever. Getting drunk at the local tavern is so engrained into us it's almost evolutionary. They tried to ban it, it didn't work at all. It was a bigger failure than any other drug ban in history.
