*[RARE FOOTAGE]* Cameraman killed in "Black Bloc" riot by firework (Rio de Janeiro - Brasil, 2014

Guys, this video was a little hard to find. This is a very controversial case that shocked the whole world in 2014. At that time, Rio de Janeiro was the most unstable city in all of Brazil (in fact, it always has been). There was a group called "Black Bloc" that destroyed the entire city in several riots. That same group fired a fireworks display into the head of a cameraman who was documenting the case. As I recall, he was a cameraman for the TV station "Record". His name was Santiago Ilídio Andrade and was 49 years old.

he did not die at the time, but he was hospitalized, suffering a depression in the skull and undergoing surgery. So he was in an induced coma in the CTI (intensive care center)

After a while, he was brain dead.

Well, as I recall, this demonstration took place in central Brazil (downtown Rio de Janeiro, heart of the city).

The facts documented here are parts of the news from the G1 site, on which I was based, and also on what I remember of what happened. I'll be leaving the link to the report in case anyone wants to come and read it.

Maybe being the cameraman isn’t as invincible as everyone thought.

That cop at the end thought he was the protagonist in an 80s action movie.

police d i think the military police of rio very cool! I've always liked the police there (not because I'm from Rio, but it's more for taste)

Why do you say that? I don't know anything about them.

It is because Rio de Janeiro has been going through a civil war for decades. And the police there are pretty tough on organized crime. They are not to arrest, but to kill. And that made me really like them. Me in 2018, going to 2019, I intended to become a military police officer of the Rio. But I needed a driver's license and I didn't have it. So I ended up not joining the corporation

Sounds like the drug dealers that were being shot in the streets in the Philippines. Once lawlessness goes entirely out of control, sometimes things like that are necessary. The developed world has gotten way too soft on crime, especially for things like drugs that can result in lifelong dependence, financial ruin and/or death.

That seems like a pretty low barrier of entry, but I have never been to Brazil and have no idea what's involved in getting a driver's license. Was it not in the cards?
