A middle-aged man's body was this morning discovered in an electronics shop in Mwingi Town after he fell from the roof while breaking in.Mulinge Kituo, the owner, said he opened his shop at around 7:15 am and found the man lying lifeless.
He then alerted officers based at Mwingi Police Station where the body of the unidentified man was taken to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
According to CCTV footage retrieved from the shop, the man cut through the roof and wooden ceiling and made his way inside before he slid and landed on the floor head-first.
The footage further revealed that the man did not die instantly. He was coughing heavily for around ten minutes before he passed on at around 11:40 pm.
Samson Mulinge Kituo, one of the traders who also own an electronic shop, revealed that another thief was captured on CCTV in yet another shop aiming to steal a fridge but was not apprehended.
(Stealing has become rampant in this center. Last week there was another robbery. There was a young man caught on CCTV trying to steal a fridge on sale but unfortunately, he was not caught.)” Kitui recalled.

Ah well spotted! His knees bend upward as his muscles slowly contract and his feet also go rigid - the current begins to dissipate and his muscles relax just as he falls - definitely electrocuted! Also explains why he fell without flailing as well (instinctive waving of the limbs when falling). Nice work detective. 👍

The results of an inquest into the death might be, they would establish the exact cause for the death certificate and also rule a verdict of the circumstances, like misadventure or something similar for example, but I really don't know how things work over there - they can also take a while (up to several months in some cases that have many factors that require a legal conclusion to be stated -ie. the crime, the damage, the death, causal factors, liability for the death (believe it or not, despite burgling the shop, the owner may be found liable if the death was due to poor maintenance or faulty wiring etc if in fact he was electrocuted - at least that's how crazy the law is over here in the West I mean - I've no idea about this country - Google might help if you really wanted to know.
