There was a video sometime back with someone jumping off a hotel roof onto a zip line, but it was never Attached and they just fall to their deaths, as in they had a vest and harness strapped on to the jumper, but it was not attached to the line…

People very often grossly under estimate how much extra strength is needed to hold on if you are allowed to drop a bit first.
The net was trash. Probably degraded due to sun exposure ovrr the course of years. Any responsible park would have the net inspected and tested. Testing doesn't mean just laying on it. Like mentioned above, the strength needed goes up quickly as falling is involved. Would need to toss test objects from the platform.
