Leaked footage of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car crash which killed 14 people in Italy, in May 2021.
The car had been experiencing malfunctions in the days before the crash, which led to a fail-safe emergency brake being illegally deactivated.
On 23rd May 2021, the car was ascending the mountain when a traction cable snapped 5 metres from the summit, sending the cable car hurtling back down the mountain. It reached the base, and crashed to ground 54 meters below, then continued to tumble down the mountain.
Thirteen people died at the scene of the accident, while two children were seriously injured and airlifted to a pediatric hospital in Turin. One of the children later died of cardiac arrest, bringing the death toll to fourteen.

It's Italy. Everybody turns a blind eye and things are only investigated if they surface. I remember this case. Of course the operator simply deactivated the brakes illegally rather than following procedure. So he could keep running the business. "I'll do it tomorrow" attitude. Later: "See, nothing happened. We'd be stupid to fix it now"
