A young woman, mucking about with a group of friends on Avenida Bezerra overpass, suddenly fell. An unknown person tried to grab her hand but the woman fell straight onto the busy road beneath. She was dead on impact. The group she was with ran off.
Traffic was heavy at the time, but she was not hit, though none stopped. Police alerted and were called to the scene and traffic re-routed while they carried out their investigations, talking to eye witnesses and examining her body before it was removed from the scene. The victims name has not been released.
The investigation is being continued to whether she accidently fell or was pushed. (Contrary to some reports, she was not attempting to take her own life.)
Her body will be released for burial once an autopsy has taken place.
