I think it's fine. You aren't actively making fun of his death, you're just having a reaction you couldn't help having. In fact I think it's good to laugh sometimes at shit like above as it helps you cope with the inevitable. As long as you still have empathy you're good. I love this, I honestly thought about looking up the equation assuming the start of the sound was the initial start of decent. And then getting the actual height off the ground, just the results of the impact show its well above 25 feet unless there was additional force of thrust downward.
