My god the shrieks of the woman in the second video were hideous.

The result of having no fire escape. Bad building. Feel HORRIBLE for the residents.

He could have escaped if he got out a little bit earlier out the window and onto that ledge below

You're wrong. The chances of him surviving were actually good - IF he was smart enough to get out of that window before he was on fire. He stood a good chance of lowering himself to that little 'balcony' just below him - but because he waited until he was burning, he made it almost impossible to manouver himself down.

If he had started to climb down to that balcony earlier, he could have turned to face the building and, with his hands holding the inside of the lip of the window, lower himself and then drop down to the ledge below, while concentrating on keeping his weight close to the building.

Many people could do this successfully.

You try jumping out a window while suffocating and burning alive. I doubt you'd make it to that balcony either.

How can you so completely miss the ENTIRE gist of the point I was trying to make?

If he'd been a bit smarter, and gotten out the window BEFORE he was on fire, he would have had time to think about how to manouver his body so that he could safely lower himself.

My point is his adrenaline must have been through the roof, and he panicked. It'd be real hard to think straight in a situation like that

Yes, extreme stress turns people brains to mush. The ability for people to think clearly goes out the window.

The main issue was the lack of fire escapes or emergency protocols. Was in no way the fault of the residents unless the fire was caused negligently or intentionally. I bet it was caused due to the poor design of the building itself.
