I can see how many would say he did the right thing here and showed her he was not going to allow being smacked around....but I'm going a different route here.
Maybe it's just how I was raised, but it would take more than a few slaps for me to lose my temper enough to hit a women (especially my wife/girlfriend). I would pin her down to let her know that I have lines that can be crossed and hopefully let her realize that despite what she's been told, men and women will always have certain differences.
Yes, I'm old school: acknowledged...but a man should be a protector in the family. Me somehow crossing my own line and hitting my wife in the face to draw blood would actually hurt me on the inside more than any slaps to my face could ever do.
Sure, in a time of modern day feminism I can see many feeling some sort of satisfaction seeing a man respond in this way....but in my opinion this is never the best response to this type of situation.
