On November 21, 2023, in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers game between Brazil and Argentina, there was a violent fight between fans, which resulted in 8 prisoners and 4 injured.
The reason for the fight was before the game, during the playing of the argentine national anthem, when the brazilian fans began to boo the argentine anthem, as a form of provocation, and an argentine fan decided to break a chair in the stadium and deliberately threw it at the brazilian fans, and that's when the mess started.
The police entered the Argentine fans' area and began to expel them with batons, but some argentines reacted against the police with their hands, in this confusion several argentines were crushed and trampled.
The argentine players decided to get involved in the fight and went to the edge of the stands and wanted the police to stop expelling the argentine fans, and the captain of the brazilian team, Marquinhos, was also there.
According to the Rio de Janeiro Military Police, 8 fans were arrested and 4 were taken to the hospital, 3 with minor injuries and 1 with a serious injury, which is the guy bleeding in the video.
The game was scheduled to start at 9:30 pm, but due to chaos, the game started at 9:57 pm.
And in the end the game ended 1-0 for Argentina
