I'm not a doctor but I would guess it hurts a lot creating the wound as the nerves send the signals still. In my opinion the worst should be the initial impact if you're not instantly dead but no clue if that's medically accurate. A twisted arm or leg probably hurts the most. A clean deep wound is probably not too bad as the nerves would be destroyed and you won't feel much inside. The internet says this to the topic:
