I have consulted my medical textbook.
The diagnosis I came to was that this is the site through which a demon entered your body. This must be remedied immediately.
Draw a quarter pint of your blood. Combine this blood with a sample of the pus from the wound in a pewter cauldron with an addition of mercury and salt (to taste).
Heat the mixture until just steaming, but not boiling (lest you have to begin the procedure again) and inhale the vapours for five minutes.
Repeat this procedure weekly for best healing results. If you are still alive in a month, you should see a marked improvement in the state of the wound. If not, the demons overpowered you and I hope you enjoy your time in Hell.
Also, my textbook was a little old, so some of this info might be out of date.
