People all around the world behave that way, and it's really stupid anywhere.

what's special about that accident is the bus driving that close to a pole, that fast.

Definitely too close to objects at roadside - like how come we don't see the side mirror of the bus flying by ? Guy's elbow couldn't have stuck out more than 4 or 5 inches from the edge of the window and the mirrors are likely to be more than that. Wherever this is, there's not likely to be a big lawsuit payoff for the guy - more like "sign says don't put any part of body out of window. Next !".

Not gonna lie, that positioning looked uncomfortable as fuck. Proper hinged his elbow out of the window as far as possible.

Bus is on the hook for driving so close to an obstacle, but fuck, this guy had multiple choices to either close the window or flat out not leave his whole ass elbow hang out the bus.

Side mirror? What side mirror?

Good one. You're probably correct - why would they need side mirrors to look behind them when looking ahead of them is low on the priority list ? Their phone while driving the bus, however, is a different story...
