After god knows how many ~100 of these specific incidents I've seen over the years, I've never seen anyone satisfactorily explain exactly wtf they are attempting to do or achieve by touching any of the various kinds of rapidly spinning get fucked machines there are. There's too damn many for it all just to be my final conclusion, surely, yet hypothetically guiding strands of whatever with your finger tips would do fuck all for the process, even then you'd use a tool. I feel strangely disappointed for some reason when my only explanation is that they're just gormless fuckwits who fancy the odd feeling, like an spastic in a hug box. Or perhaps the thrill of skirting injury, which of course isn't actually likely since its only ever happened to other people, all of whom happened to be idiots. Regardless the reason or compulsion, this annoys me far more than it rationally should.

I have worked with similar machines and sometimes feeling the material can tell you something about it. Still not a good idea.
Most of the times its just one of those things that people have the urge to do. Like popping bubble wrap or slapping a full bag of something. I definitely think its the opposite of a thrill because when people work with machines long enough its common to get complacent.
I have co workers that tell me its ok for THEM to reach into a running machine because they "know how". When just before we were talking about how people were stupid for doing that.
