I've been present for a heart attack of a family member. They were gone pretty much instantly. Present for a stroke of another one. I found them on the floor and called an ambulance. They made it a few days and then passed.

And this one came real close to being the end of me also. Pulmonary embolism. She died while I was attempting CPR. RIP Baby.

Im sorry for your loss and how you had to experience it.

Thanks man. The first two were elderly. Honestly a major heart attack doesn't really look like a bad way to go. I'd prefer peacefully in my sleep. But he was there one second, had a moment of oh shit and was just gone. The stroke wasn't as severe as in the video but it wasn't pretty. He was fully aware for a day or so that shit was going bad. Looked like a scary, lonely death even with us there.

The last one led to me having something like PTSD or whatever for awhile. Spent a lot of time staring at the wall and thinking about pulling my own plug. She was a good woman.

I'll watch dudes get grenades dropped on their heads all day. Videos like this fuck me up though.

Dang I think I'd have PTSD or suicide for the loss of only one person.

What was that woman's relationship with you?

Wife. 30 years. The expression 'It gets better' is kind of true but not really. I saw nothing but her dying for around 6 months. It was devastating. I'm not destroyed like that anymore or thinking about me ending it. I do have out of nowhere " Holy fuck you're dead" moments still. And find myself talking out loud to her. I'm good now for the most part. Something definitely broke though when it happened.

I can't imagine. I'm so sorry you had to live through that. Just thinking about that happening to me makes it hard to breathe. I'm really glad your still here to prove it's even possible to live through that.

Yeah these kind of videos messed me up too somebody can look just fine one moment and go about their normal routine, and then just die all of a sudden. Just like the one video with the lady from Thailand cooking all of a sudden dropping dead dead from a heart attack. And they look just fine normal and healthy then they just die like that crazy!

Death is the biggest truth of life and you cannot escape it. We deceive ourselves every moment by living as if death does not exist. When this happens to someone, we are very surprised because we do not want to face this reality. For people who ignore the reality of death, every death is so sudden and unexpected.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

My point is, even though you cant save his life you could maybe at least actively do something like removing him from the driving seat, perform first aid... you know. But I´m retarded so maybe its obvious to anyone else except me that just TRYING to help him is pointless if you´re not qualified enough. What I mean is it took way to long till someone actually tried helping him. But I get your point

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

How would you administer first aid to a stroke victim, tell me please...

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Yeah that's where I´m restarted but still I would have tried doing something even if it´s pointless.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

So basically you're criticising them for not doing something which you yourself can't name. I'll let you ponder the preposterous nature of that criticism.

If you can't name anything of substance/use that they could've done, criticising them for doing nothing is moot.

Jump in the discussion.

Moo. Like a cows moo. It's pointless.

Instead of simply calling for help, I would have taken action immediately. I would have moved the person from the driver's seat to a stable position, staying by their side while simultaneously calling for assistance. I understand your perspective and acknowledge my fault, but what I wanted to say is my frustration at watching someone merely standing by and calling for help without taking further steps to help. Why not approach the driver directly and remove them from the seat? I were taught to prioritize stabilizing the victim before seeking outside aid. But that's maybe just cultural differences.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

if this were a real situation you probably wouldn't know its a stoke. i think its kinda the first rule to not move someone in a medical emergency, and theres not really a way to stop a stroke that i know of so what can you do. shit happens and people die, you cant stop it

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

yeah my assumption was wrong

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

In a situation like this you want someone to calm so medics can show up as quick as possible. CPR only works if the person's heart stopped, in this case dude is having a stroke, me myself don't know what to do with that.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

That's admirable and can provide some at least comfort in someone's final moments which I think is very important I've been at people's final moments unfortunately more than once and it makes all the difference

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

You mean move and jostle the body and expose yourself to potential hazards and also the bus is actively moving, all things every expert says not to do? Sure dude.

I just think you are a bit stupid.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I already acknowledge my mistake, I understand the point you guys made and you were right. The discussion has been already over and if you would have read everything you would have known but I never expected you to. So all is good no insult taken.

Jump in the discussion.

I think the instinct to want to help is good, it just needs to be tempered with ability to help. Without ability to specifically assist, you are just destructive. Sometimes just watching and thinking is all you can do.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

wth? Even if I were in their situation I would rather call an ambulance than do anything that I'm not sure of. I'll regret it my whole life if the man died because I moved him while he is moving like that.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I think this shows our difference in culture. I was taught to prioritize helping the victim even if it may cause Injury or death. Where I live you can get punished for not giving first aid to a victim(in this case there is not much to be done but still you can put him in a stable position).

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

That's not how it works.

You help when you know what you're doing. If you took first aid course you can tell specifically what you can do in which situation.

Here there is nothing you can realistically do. Pulling this person off of the seat onto the bus floor may make the situation worse. They did what they could best: hold him up on the seat. That's why you delegate tasks. Again you know this if you've taken any kind of first aid course. One person communicates on the phone. Another person tends to the injured.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

oh OK than I am in the wrong. Thanks for educating me might as well revisit a first aid course has been a while. Was fun debating against y'all but I see where my thinking process went wrong :marseyfingerhearts:

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

As soon as they confirmed something was wrong, one on phone, another leapt up to help the driver, and even outside people entered the vehicle to assist. What else were they supposed to do?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

True but still it took way to long, what I think is stupid is the guy next to him could have checked the driver all the time but decided to just call someone (which is also good but why not check on him first?)

Jump in the discussion.

He's having a medical episode of unknown origin, tf are they going to do? Snap him out of it? Huddle around him scratching their heads because they've never seen some shit like this in their life?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

So you´re telling me that if you were in that situation you would just stand there call some help and do nothing else? Why not but I think that's stupid. I would have thought anyone would come to the conclusion to at least remove him from the seat and put him safely on the ground but maybe that's just me.

I think the right choice is to immediately alert authorities for help. Im not Dr House pro mystery diagnostic person and i have no idea if its an allergic reaction, col!apsed lung, drug overdose, embolism, toxins in the environment etc. So me calling for backup is my first choice and then assessing the person for clues to what happen. Also, to speak slow to them saying you called for help and will stay here by them. Its definitely scary!
