Tukwila, Washington, United States

Seattle police released new bodycam video Friday evening that shows the moments leading up to officers fatally shooting a suspected child predator at a Tukwila hotel earlier this week.

Seattle Police Department (SPD) Chief Adrian Diaz said the 67-year-old child predator suspect arrived at the DoubleTree Suites hotel around 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday under the impression that he was meeting two young girls, ages 7 and 11.

However, unbeknownst to the suspect, multiple SPD officers with the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce were undercover and waiting to arrest the man.

The newly released video shows the officers opening the door for the man, who immediately flashed a gun. A scuffle then occurred before police ultimately fatally shot the man. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Officials at the scene said a Seattle officer was grazed by a bullet on their leg during the shootout with the man.

i dont understand why American police officers shoots so much compared to uk police officers who shoot once then assess if the subject is down then shoot again if their not because personally i think it would of made more sense for the pedo to rot in jail then die

I can think of 2 things, they use all their rounds to justify the high capacity mags they're given, and they know how finicky the legal system is. Good chance this pedo would've been a free man with the right lawyer

They aren't given high capacity magazines. They typically use Glocks with .40 cal rounds, most of them can only hold 10 rounds in the mag. If they use a 9mm it's around 15

Most police departments have been auctioning off their .40s for 9mm glocks with higher capacity for the extra firepower. It's not uncommon to see 19+ round mags issued to officers now, just depends on the budget. I get your point though, wasn't trying to imply they had drum mags or anything

Oh yeah I get it. They usually only use the .40s for stopping power over magazine capacity, since it's really rare for suspects to use ballistic vests. 19 round mags are kinda rare, I've seen a lot of magdump videos and I think the most rounds I've seen was about 15-16. Not saying you're wrong though. You could be right for all I know, I'm just saying what I've seen. If you're right I might do a bit more research

Yeah I agree, I wonder if the cops were acting on emotions in the moment. I don't blame them but god damn!
