He may have had earplugs for this. They tested the barrel on his shoulder, the muzzle was still well in front of him. A decent suppressor brings the noise level down to about the same as an unsupressed shot while using set of earmuffs. He is fine.

I'm pretty sure the sniper rested the end of the barrel on the shoulder of the cop in front of him.
You can see the barrel move around (too much) as the cop in front can't keep perfectly still.
What's more amazing - is the bullet went THROUGH a computer monitor screen.

If the lives of two hostages on either side of the target depended on the effects of a bullet being misdirected by 10 degrees - then I'd think about it a lot.
If the monitor was flat on to the bullet - I wouldn't worry much about it. But on an angle - that would concern me.
