Atlanta, Georgia — On May 18, 2022, Atlanta Police :marseybongcoplaser: Officers were called to the Fogo de Chão Brazilian :marseymacacosalute: Steakhouse on the 3100 block :marseyerasure: of Piedmont Road after a 911 caller reported an unruly man armed with a gun. Officers arrived at the restaurant about 26 minutes later :marseywave2: and found :marseymimic: 22-year-old Nygil Cullins, sitting :marseyteapot: at the bar.

Cullins was reportedly a former employee of the business. Officers attempted to escort him out. Cullins was not cooperative and the encounter escalated to a physical altercation. An officer :marseysalutecop: deployed his taser. However, the taser was not effective.

Cullins began :marseyitsover: heading toward the door of the business :marseybroker: when he was tackled by a security :marseysecuritron: guard. At that point, Cullins produced his gun and fired one round, striking the security :marseysecuritron: guard. At least one of our officers then discharged their weapon, fatally striking Cullins.

The security :marseysecuritron: guard :marseyblart: was taken the the hospital :marseyloss: in stable :marseybutt2: condition. No one else was physically injured :marseynosebleed: during the incident. A federal :marseyfedscared: lawsuit filed by Cullins family, stated that Cullins suffered such pain from the Taser that he tried to leave :marseypeaceout: but was tackled by a security :marseyblart: guard.

The family :marseyracistcheck: claims that the restaurant's security :marseyblart: guard :marseyblart: falsely portrayed Cullins as a physical threat, which led to the shooting. They are alleging inappropriate use of deadly force, negligence, and civil :marseysaluteconfederacy: rights :marseypride: violations. They are suing the police :marseycop2: officers who killed :marseydead: him, the city, the restaurant, the security :marseysecuritron: guard, and the company the guard :marseyblart: worked for.

Ah, so the family thinks Cullin's use of deadly force was appropriate after he was tackled to the floor, yet the officers use of deadly force, in response to his use of deadly force, was not. Makes perfect sense
