Cop made the best of a bad situation here. No, in fact he should not run from the car. The car provides a barrier that protects the officer from being launched into orbit by the speeding car. If I’ve learned anything from WPD pedestrians cannot reliably predict the trajectory of a speeding car. Shooting here is a straightforward approach, it won’t stop the car but if you kill the driver it will slow it down and prevent him from running you over if you survive the initial crash.
