No. The death rate for Construction Workers in the US in 2012 was 17.4 per 100,000 workers[1]. 95 officers in total were reported killed in the line of duty in the same year -- 48 in felonious deaths and 47 in accidents[2]. Using a rough count 780,000 cops in the US that year[3], that is a rate of roughly 6.15 deaths per 100,000 officers in violent confrontations. That means you are roughly 3 times more likely to die as a construction worker than a cop while doing the majority of your job.
