South Pasadena, California — South Pasadena police released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that killed actress Vanessa Marquez in August 2018. Two police officers acted in "lawful self-defense" in the fatal shooting of former ER actress Vanessa Marquez, who was shot and killed in her home in South Pasadena, California, in 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has ruled.
On August 30, 2018, SPPD officers responded to an apartment located on Fremont Avenue, in the City of South Pasadena, to conduct a welfare check on Vanessa Marquez. Marquez lived in an upstairs apartment in the complex. During the contact, Marquez brandished a black BB handgun and a fatal officer involved shooting occurred.
Her family later sued the city for $450,000. However, IMO, she says "kill me" several times, suggesting she was wishing to die by suicide by police.
She was primarily known for her recurring role in the first three seasons of ER as nurse Wendy Goldman, as well as her role as Ana Delgado in the 1988 biographical drama film, Stand and Deliver.

I mean, she came down the stairs with a gun (fake or not, you're asking to die) aimed at them. She wanted them to kill her. I don't see why her family thought they needed to sue, they would've been taking care of her if they really cared.

Doesn't add up, does it? She was even on that TV show Intervention several years before this: https://intervention-directory.com/2010/07/episode-2-vanessa None of her family showed up to help her. But they were damn quick to get that bag after her death. She was seriously let down.

Exactly, they didn't care about her until there was money to be had. I wonder if they actually won the lawsuit?

how is opening fire on someone who clearly needs mental help the answer?
ok you can have your gun out (even if I fucking disagree) but the long barrel one?? wtf do you need an assault weapon for?
I know everyone from the us will not see this as a problem but you guys are kinda fucked in the head... sorry, everyone sees you this way

Hey. European here. That is not an assault weapon.
Im very against guns here, but considering how fucked the us HAS to be gun wise nowadays our rules/standarts dont apply.
Shitty situation, badly executed in the end maybe but in any moment where there is a gun involved you want better firepower than that the otherside has. Could be you or them in the blink of an eye. Yeah, fucked up, but nobody wants someone that has a mental breakdown while having a firearm in their hand rushing at them even less if its pointed at you.
The ar is the least of the issue here imo, and opening fire the second least.

I can't imagine being weak and useless enough to break a bone. People who break bones are the scum of the earth. If I was a doctor I wouldn't bother putting a cast on a broken bone, instead I would just kill the patient. How can someone who breaks a bone function in society, pathetic. A couple days ago a 4th grader asked me to sign his cast, I spat on him and pushed him to the ground. I can't be bothered with non milk drinkers. A cast is the mark of a bitch and a dysfunctional member of society
