I have seen a case where the police went in the backseat of the criminal car, and started shooting when the criminal started moving the car because he was panicked. what kind of dumb strategy is that?

Well, you can look at it this way: If a cop stops you, to you (hopefully!) is a very particular and extraordinary moment that stands out from the rest of your daily life. It might scare you, or piss you off, but it doesn't go beyond that, especially if you're collected.
To a cop, stopping you was just one more of the dozens of events that will go down in a regular day of work in their daily life. The difference is that they are aware that they can't never relax and follow a routine like many civilians do, because it could be on that fateful day a stop routine, wellness check, a domestic dispute or a routine arrest, becomes the last day of their life. Now add that to the previous list of shit law enforcement has to put up with, and it becomes clear why they're jittery.
Don't get me wrong, there has been cases where they have let a psycho become a cop and they have killed someone that was clearly subdued, like that strag that shot that guy in an hotel when he was already on the floor and surrendered. And it is outrageous they got off scotfree.
But for each one of those there are several dozens that die on duty and the media stays silent, and as thus, people have the false idea being a cop is not as risky as it actually is.
I personally stand with the belief than rather than having more police, it should be civilians arming themselves and having less politicians advocate for criminal trash and more for civilian self-defense. I guess it all can be boiled down to this true statement: "Your survival is your own responsibility." Cheers 🍻

Okay, that was a fair point. then they need a cleansing operation or something to improve people's trust in them. Whether your idea of civilian need to self-defense or not. it's another topic for discussion. As someone who lives in a country that has strict gun control, even possessing a gun illegally can get you in jail for 7-8 years. I beg to differ in opinion.

Fair enough. I lived in Mexico for about a decade, and I can attest how ridiculous shit can get there because even just beating up a robber that got inside of your house can send you to jail and the robber free, to rob more people later on. Despite having a constipation-tight control on guns owned by civilians, somehow cartel goons sport even better equipment than the local military. That's why lynchings happen often in there.
It hasn't helped anyone but criminals and politicians. The worst part is that people there have been whipped into obedience for generations, so even discussing the topic of civilian gun ownership makes them nervous and they argue it will turn like "the old wild west" despite the old west being a rather boring period of history that only got exciting with the romanticism of spaghetti westerns.

There is a different take on different countries. in my country. the last cartel-like killings were in the 80's and that guy was sniped without mercy. and if people are robbed in their own houses, we can kill them or injure them because it will be ruled out as self-protection anyway. there are no small-time criminals that have the balls to own guns here. most of the robbers use a knife. So, when there is no petty criminal using guns, it is normal for neighbors to intervene, because they aren't afraid of people with sharp objects. In many cases here, robbers are being stomped by the people in the neighborhood but of course some of the case one in many cases it did not happen but it is such a tiny number once in a while.
For cartels, if they have the balls to act like they have power and kill people in public or show any signs that their cartel is 'big-time' and have fully equipped guns. our special forces will hunt them like a pig. Not to capture but hunt to kill and if the police special force isn't enough, the military special force will kick in. Plus our law on drugs is strict, we ban all types of drugs, and if you exceed the weight limit that is being set by the government when you are busted either you are in a cartel or you are just a drug addict, you will not only be thrown in the prison, but you can say goodbye to this world because you will be executed.
I think some countries in SEA are similar to mine.
But still, for people who are accustomed to living in a country like mine. they feel guns are really not needed at all.

you can tell the difference in quality between the SWAT team and the average patrol cop immediately.
the average patrol cop will panic instantly and shoot everything in his sight, even little kids, grandmas and his colleagues

When I was a kid I used to play rainbow with this dude that was a cop for some small town in South Carolina, the town that he lived in was so small that all the local police also had to act as the swat team, I don't remember a lot of his stories but the only one that sticks with me is when he had a hostage situation where some dude had a gun pointed at his 10ish year old sons head and he had already shot his other infant child dead, my buddy let's call him ness (part of his gamer tag) had to shoot the guy in the head but as he shot him his hand clenched onto the gun and shot his kid. I'm sorry for the shitty run on sentences in that little story I'm fucking slow but what I learned from playing with this guy is that this world is full of fucked up stuff and fucked up things that nobody has any control of and all we can do is understand that we do make an impact on it even if we think we don't. Idk where you are or how you're doing ness but I know you have a beautiful wife and even more amazing children, I hope you can find peace with the actions that weigh you down.

Very calmly I explain that we did not like it when they laughed at us. I asked them how they would react if they hurt themselves and we would laugh at them. The acknowledged that they would get mad at us. I asked them if they would want us to help them if they had a problem. The acknowledged this. I said what they would think if we asked for money before we would help them. They called us racists and immediately demanded money from us.
