Imagine just doing your work, stoping a car and the guy goes crazy shooting you.
There are scumbag officeres thats for sure, but that is everywhere, that apart, being a officer in USA(not only there ofc) must be fked up. they need to be alert ALLWAYS. just stoping a random car can end up in a shooting.

I always say there ought to be a special type of cop who can't arrest you and can only hand out traffic tickets. So many violent altercations resulting from traffic stops could be avoided if (often panicky or not very bright) criminals weren't worried that their car was about to get searched and that they're about to spend the next 5-20 years behind bars unless they find a way to escape in the next 45 seconds
Meanwhile I'm highly skeptical of the idea that very many cops have been saved by being armed when someone unexpectedly pulls a gun during a traffic stop. It's the kind of situation where you have 6 new holes before you even realize that a gun's been pulled.
