If there is reasonable suspicion yes- but also if we (emt) pick someone up whos significantly altered/not AO or completely unconscious, its not uncommon at all to have to pat them down to find medical information/ID. (specifically just pockets really, but im assuming the gun was in his waistband which they would have noticed) to find medical information/ID. (I'd like to think i would have but thats probably just the foresight talking shit yk

May 15th, 2019. Appleton, Outagamie County, Wisconsin. An officer-involved shooting that left the suspect, Ruben Houston, 47 and a responding firefighter, Mitch Lundgaard, a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department, dead after a call to 911 for a person having a seizure on the bus.
The Appleton Fire Department EMS resonded to the scene and administred Narcan for a suspected opioid overdose. After the patient was stabilized, police sergeant Christopher Biese and officer Paul Christensen initiated a pat down after noticing a bulge in the waist of the suspect. Situation escalated and Houston pulled out a .380 semi-automatic weapon firing multiple shots at the responding emergency services and police, striking Lungaard and officer Christensen. Christensen was shot in the lower body and was discharged from the hospital the later day, Lungaard and Houston later died in the hospital to their injuries.
Lungaard was a father of three kids, held the rank of firefighter inspector and was also a relief driver engineer. He drove the firetruck to the scene that night.
