Crazed Carjacker Loses Shootout with Police

The shootout starts at the 4:40 mark, although the buildup is interesting, in my opinion.

An Oregon State Police trooper exchanged gunfire with a man who was holding the driver of a semitrailer at gunpoint along Interstate 5 in Salem, leaving the suspect dead, authorities said.

Trooper Andrew Tuttle stopped to help the driver of the disabled semitrailer at about 8:45 a.m. when he noticed the gunman, who immediately began shooting at the trooper, the Salem Police Department said in a news release.

Tuttle returned fire and the gunman ran into tall grass along the interstate, where he was found with gunshot injuries, the statement said. He died at the scene despite unspecified medical assistance, police said.

Police identified the man as Felipe Amezcua Manzo, 31.

A vehicle connected with Manzo was found at the scene and searched after police got a warrant. Officials did not disclose if anything relevant to the shooting was found inside Manzo's car.

Police said Tuttle suffered a minor injury. He is currently on administrative leave, which is standard in cases of police using deadly force.

The Salem Police Department is leading an investigation into the incident.

That part of Interstate 5, the main highway connecting California, Oregon and Washington state, was closed for about six hours.

Man is shot and killed after assaulting multiple officers and bitting one officer's finger and refusing to let go -

Bodycam video released by Maryland officials shows an unarmed 20-year-old man punch a police officer in the face and bite his finger before the man was fatally shot.

The Attorney General's office on Tuesday released body camera video of the Jan. 30 incident. Officials said it began when a woman called 911 saying her son, Dyonta Quarles Jr., assaulted her and kept her from leaving her Crofton home, news outlets report. Responding Anne Arundel County police officers found Quarles' mother locked in a bedroom with her son. Quarles initially complied with officers' orders to get on the floor, but then got up.

After officers warned Quarles that they would use a stun gun, Quarles is seen charging Officer J. Ricci, striking him in the face several times and a stun gun is heard on the video. Ricci suffered a β€œtraumatic brain injury and injuries to his face,” according to the attorney general's office.

As officers handcuff Quarles, the video shows him struggle, then bite Ricci and another officer deploys a stun gun.

β€œShoot him! Shoot him!” Ricci said, and he is seen firing with one hand stuck in Quarles' mouth. Other officers can be heard telling Ricci to put his gun down and to breathe before he's seen crawling away and falling to the ground.

Quarles died at the scene and Ricci was taken to a trauma center in serious condition, officials said.

ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations has launched an investigation after Ashland County Sheriff's Deputies fatally shot a 63-year-old man.

Ashland County Chief Deputy David Blake confirmed the shooting happened at 7:56 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of U.S. Route 250 in Rowsburg.

Blake said deputies were at the home to respond to a call of a man with suicidal tendencies.

Blake confirmed the 63-year-old man threw his cellphone on the ground as deputies attempted to talk with him.

The deputies fired their service weapons after the man begun to confront them with deadly force, Blake confirmed.

The 63-year-old died at the scene from his injuries, but no deputies were injured.
