I kind of never understood this. If you go “across” for sure you’ll hit the artery. If you go “along,” how can you be sure you won’t just cut NEXT to it and not ON it?

Can confirm. Tried to slit my wrists along the tracks in a suicide attempt. Had drank a lot of liquid courage to ensure I followed through (too much). I slashed because it is hard to do. I cut through the fatty layer down my wrist and it was bleeding really bad. I passed out thinking I did the job. Nope, I missed. Woke up with my arm pasted to my clothes with blood. Sucked to clean up. Caring for the wounds after the hospital trip supplied some mental relief and didn’t try again for a long time.

I did the same thing many years ago. Slashed several times quickly along the length of my forearm. They were all really deep and bleeding a lot, I thought I'd done the job. I took some xanax, laid down to take a nap. I woke up a few hours later, eventually the bleeding did slow. Apparently veins like to roll, and can often roll out of the way.

eta- That was a little over 10 years ago and I'm really glad now that it didn't work.

You have to go deep. Slitting your wrist takes a lot of effort. If you cut along, theres a bigger cut and thus more blood loss. Across has a lot of nerves and tendons, so its going to be a shit ton harder. plus smaller cut.

go look it up, im shitty at explaining this shit
