Attention but from whom? The whole world knows your brains are mush and you are an abject failure, just some low lives would give you some miniscule amount of attention that is so unremarkable that you can roll it up and stick in up your ass and won't feel a thing. Most of the world will just let you continue ruining your life and will forget about you when you are gone prematurely. A pale stain on some close relative's live (maybe), but actually relief on society of a deadbeat useless burden on the healthcare system.

Where am I wrong?

I'm not exactly saying you're wrong. You're oversimplifying your assumptions because that's easier, but it also makes them that much less accurate. You can hate and make all the assumptions you want. I'm simply saying that if you'd try and understand someone else's perspective, it could potentially feel even better than expressing your frustration.

Do you think I can have understanding and compassion for a person harming themselves for attention? I did exaggerate and sounded extra dramatic for sure, and my rant were mainly in regards with the comment suggesting that this is done for attention. I'm ready to express my compassion to a person harming themselves, who admit they have a serious mental illness and is willing try healing their mind. In any case if you harm yourself for any reason I don't want to see your perspective, because there is no reasonable perspective related with this. The only explanation is that your mind is broken in some way and you need help, while any encouragement by some fringe group of supporters is the worse thing that can happen to you.

I appreciate your willingness to discuss this topic. Not seeing their perspective as logical or based on sound thinking, doesn't mean they aren't so; It simply reflects the complexity and subjectivity of the world. One's perspective could be that there is no absolute 'right and wrong', only personal interpretations, therefore whatever is, is just what you make it be.

While it's true that self-harm is concerning. Denying individuals and their perspectives often exacerbates the problem, whereas acceptance and willingness to understand can truly be of help.

I also agree that self-harming for attention is not an ideal coping mechanism, but people cope however they can. We can hope for change and work towards it, but accepting the complexities of human behaviour is essential.

(sorry if this sounds preachy, but I was trying to put this as clear and concise as possible)
