I don't wanna be rude but like why do people do this? Is it a type of feeling or?

Self harm releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel better (I can't remember what they're called and google is just giving me hotlines sry) and then when you make that connection between cutting and feeling better, it can become addictive. It can also make people feel more in control of their feelings because they're deciding when they're hurt, and taking care of the cuts can be good for some people as well. People generally end up cutting this deep either by accident and then it is the only thing that gives you the nice feeling, or by seeing people cutting deeper on the internet/irl and feeling invalid if they don't do the same.
So yeah basically it's a feeling.
