It's logical, if you're self-harming that severely, there is absolutely more at play. Not saying they are that person, but this increases that chance.

i have cats and i mutilate my body all the time. am i hurting my animals? for a name as dr phil you must realize that not all mentally ill people are out to kill their pets

Of course not all mentally ill people are out to kill their pets, I said it increases the chance. There's a lot of evidence to support this. The most recognized theories of self-harm highlight emotional regulation as the core function of this behavior. There are studies that confirm that personality disorders and their co-morbidity with other psychiatric conditions are risk factors for both fatal and nonfatal suicidal behaviors, AND self-mutilation. Studies also find that a person with a history of animal cruelty during childhood was significantly associated with APD, antisocial personality traits, and polysubstance abuse. There's an increasing link being drawn between animal abuse and aggressive or antisocial behaviours toward humans.

I think im just upset with how people assume that theyre pet murderers because of their self harm. i guess its more personal because im a pet owner myself

I apologize for being so harsh earlier, i just get real emotional about this stuff

plus as someone with a load of mental disorders i get upset whenever people stigmatise it by assuming theyre pet abusers. it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth imo
