- After causing an injury (light)
It should be simply smeared with alcohol-containing disinfectant (except iodine iodine on alcohol is very aggressive) Betadine is also suitable.
- After inflicting medium damage (the cut is deep, ran blood) should wait for the bleeding to stop and then wash the wound with chlorhexedine or hydrogen peroxide, after - lubricate with alcohol-containing disinfectant and apply a bandage.
The dressing should be changed once a day until there are no more visible secretions (blood, bloodwort, pus) on the dressing.
- Severe injuries - deep cuts, caused, hopefully, accidentally....
All the same thing, only really, I would see a doctor....
Cuts to the muscle or fascial layer (white stuff) are pretty dangerous stuff. An infection to either muscle or fascia spreads throughout the body, so it's definitely worth doing the treatment, and at the slightest indisposition or fever, it's worth going to the hospital.
Let's talk about improvised means
What to replace the bandage and gauze?
Gauze that is applied to the wound can be replaced with a pad.
The bandage can be replaced with a handkerchief.
Hydrogen peroxide can be replaced with chlorhexedine or, in the last resort, boiled water.
Alcohol-containing remedy - vodka, cognac, any alcohol with 40 and more % alcohol
In the most extreme cases, you can take a well-washed and crumpled plantain and pray....
Ointments
For better healing of the skin, dexpanthenol ointment should be used.
It can be replaced with syntomycin, if your budget is very limited.
There's also streptocide. Both powder and ointment.....

Frrr. When I cut I never did anything really- my cuts weren't major sure but the most id do is wash them with soapy water here and there MAYBE slap a regular ass bandaid on it and call it a day. I was always so anxious about infection though because I knew that would mean my parents finding out and the doctors wouldn't take my self harm lightly. I did end up going to the hospital because I was malnourished and collapsing everywhere, my mother found out as I predicted while they were putting my IV in and I got an anxiety attack so bad I couldn't hear anything and nearly passed tf out. I only didn't because she held it together telling me it's okay and to calm down lmao I was shitting BRICKS tho

i don’t disagree that they’ll be scarred, and i dont encourage self-mutilation by any means.
people will always do it, even if you insult them or try to get them to stop, they’re going to do it anyways. they might as well know how to properly clean and dress them so their situation isn’t already worse than it is. just my opinion.

all what i have to say for selfharmers is to ask for help from somebody close to them and hopefully turn their lives around, trust me they love you and they will never want to see you that way, and they will provide as much help and advice as they can. keep yourself contained, put your attention into other stuff and stay away from blades. the world may seem like a dark place sometimes and i assure you a lot of us has experienced some rough moments in our lives too, but the thing is there's the few of good moments that we can enjoy as much as we can which keeps us going

this is a horrible guide research before you spread this info. both hydrogen peroxide and alcohol are horrible for wounds as they dry them out, kill bacteria and slow down healing. you can suffice with mild soap around the wound and lukewarm water to clean the wound itself.
