This is going to sound even more fucked up and feel free to downvote but whenever I see kids get killed, I don't feel bad at all because they are just starting their lives, not much has really been accomplished at that young age so not much is lost at that point.

I think the same, think about all the person had worked for in their life and has now lost. A baby or small child is an empty slate, they don't have nearly as much to lose. If I had to choose for 10 babies to die or one adult that's a good person, I'd choose the babies.
A baby/child could turn out to be a terrible person or a good person. We already know what the adult has become.
