The science of a pelvic shot is so freaky, like instantly falling from a nut tap. It's theorized that the body does that to protect its place in the gene pool and the laughing response most people get is theorized to also defuse the fight on both ends. When it comes to the pelvic bowl region in general however, it's more of a pure muscular reaction to fall like that because of how many muscles in that area control walking.
