Too bad self defense isn’t allowed in 2022. Without spending at least $6000 on a good lawyer, the gunman will go to jail. For shooting a person who didn’t even deserve a life in the first place.

The only reason this is legally questionable at all is because he pointed down to spare the mans life (and also fired just a single shot). That's a HUGE no-no. Long ago, some clever lawyer argued that if you shoot someone in the legs, that means you "didn't fear for your life" and therefore you were just trying to injure the person. If you have time to think about it (even a split second) that means you "didn't fear for your life." This imaginary made up standard is now the law of the land, so people have a VERY good incentive to kill rather than stop. Killing also means it's your word vs nobody, and you win by default. Unintended consequences of a stupid policy.

This is false. What you're spouting off is pure urban legend. My old lady works in defensive law field. The man was absolved of his wrongdoing after a investigation took place and the video was reviewed.

That is as simple as arguing that there was a "reasonable doubt" that he did, in fact, try to aim down (it COULD have just happened). It's not a high standard to beat. That doesn't contradict anything I said, which is why I said "questionable." They obviously asked some questions if there was an investigation.
